1992 - 2022

As we recognise our 30th anniversary, we’d like to thank all our staff, past and present, for their hard work and commitment to the company. Without them we’d never have made it this far! We’d also like to thank our customers, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers for their support over the years. We are committed to ensuring RFE continues to be one of the very best contractors in the UK sprinkler industry for many more years to come. 

The back story

Up and coming entrepreneur Steven Harmon co-owned Delta Fire back in the 1980’s. When the company folded Steven set up a kitchen fitting business with Denis Ward (Harmon Ward Kitchens) which was based at our current headquarters in Richmond. After a few years Steven was still in touch with his fire protection contacts and decided to go solo, setting up ‘Richmond Fire Engineers Ltd’.  After amicably parting ways with Dennis out went the kitchens and in came the sprinklers! Alongside him came budding designer Chris Brown, back then starting out as an apprentice designer / project designer. 

Fast forward 30 years and RFE are proud to be an established company within the fire protection industry working across many new sectors offering innovative solutions and first-class customer care. Since joint company directors Chris & Lee took over the reins in 2017 the company has continued to grow and today employs 29 members of staff across the North of England.  

Marking the occasion

On the 16th March 2022 joint company director Chris planted a winter cherry tree at our head office in Richmond in recognition of 30 successful years in business. We hope the tree will flourish and provide our staff with a cheery outlook from the office. Both the Huddersfield and Richmond offices then came together virtually to toast the special occasion, reminisce about the past and enjoy some birthday cake!
