“Staying current with the use of 3D BIM modelling”

RFe are currently carrying out a new fire protection install at Winchburgh Academy for our client Castle Building Services. As part of this project we produced a 3D Building Information Model (BIM) to aid in the initial sprinkler design and coordination. These models were created in house by our design team using Revit software and they assisted with the off site coordination, fabrication, planning and decision-making process throughout the project.

The benefits of using 3D modelling in fire protection and sprinkler system design enable RFe to carry out more in depth coordination at design stage including clash reporting against other services before the project is pre-fabricated. This reduces clash incidents on site during the install and ultimately creates a more efficient install through reducing waste and re-works.

Following completion of the project the live 3D BIM will be used to provide as installed information to the client together with life-cycle information relating to the maintenance of the sprinkler system components by way of COBie data drops.
